Businessman Tony Petrello has a record of philanthropic giving as he has donated to a vast number of charities and led many fundraising efforts.
Recently the chief executive officer of Nabors Industries recently made a donation of $5 million to a medical research initiative and will be donating another couple of million in the near future. Other than making contributions to the cause, Tony Petrello will also be the leader of several fundraising events to raise more money for the medical research. The cause hits close to home for Tony Petrello as his daughter has a neurological condition called periventricular leukomalacia. The disease affects her development due to lack of oxygen and the cerebral palsy that stemmed from the condition.
Tony Petrello is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Children’s Hospital. Tony Petrello was attracted to the medical institution after he and his wife earned about the condition of their daughter. They also investigated medical facilities overseas as well s UCLA, and the facilities at Harvard and John Hopkins. Tony Petrello was stunned by the lack of appropriate research on the condition and started funding research initiatives that research the brain functions of children with the disease.
Over the years, Tony Petrello has recruited a number of donors to help fund the medical research. One of them is Dan Duncan who is the Director and Chairman of the Board of Enterprise Products. Dan Duncan made a donation of $50 million to the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute which was launched in 2010 at the Texas Children’s Hospital.
Tony Petrello is serving as the chief executive officer of Nabors Industries. The corporation is the most extensive drilling contractor in the global industry. Tony Petrello also doubles as the chief operating officer of the company. He became CEO in 2011. Previously, Tony Petrello had occupied the position of member of the Board of Directors as well as the Executive Committee of the Board, appointed in 1991. In 2003 Tony Petrello became Deputy Chairman.
Tony Petrello has a high affinity for academic achievement, and so he received his higher education from the Yale Universty. Tony Petrello graduated with a bachelor’s in Math and then earned a master’s degree in the discipline as well. Tony Petrello later moved on to study at the Harvard Law School from which he graduated with a J. D. before proceeding to his business career.
